Club Description: Anesthesiology Club serves to expose students to the many careers within the broad spectrum of anesthesiology, including critical care, chronic pain, regional, cardiac, OB, etc. Members will learn skills relevant to anesthesia but applicable to several clinical scenarios via workshops and lectures hosted by local practitioners and attending regional/national conferences with leaders in the field.

Club Description: Best Buddies Club works with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We volunteer within the community to assist in events such as Special Olympics and ice cream socials. Program Description:
The Community Wellness Program (CWP) is dedicated to giving back to the community through the schools, generations, and research branches. The goal of the CWP-schools is to reach the lives of the children at J Frank White Academy. We want to educated them on hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and their overall well being for a better and brighter future. The CWP research branch focuses on proposing and designing studies that understand trends among local Appalachian communities and populations. In past years, CWP research directors have proposed projects that support their areas/specialties of interest. CWP generations aims to give back to the seniors in the community through volunteering at the local senior centers, Meals on Wheels, and Mail from a Medical Student.

Club Description: The Dermatology Club is a place for you if you enjoy talking and learning about all things skin. The field of Dermatology is unique in that it consists of a wide variety of clinical disease presentations while also encompassing the fascinating world of aesthetics. Club Description: The Emergency Medicine Club is a group of students dedicated to advancing our knowledge and experience for the potential residency of emergency medicine. Of course you don’t have to have your sights set on EM to join! We would love to have anyone that wants to do hands on activities (airway training, disaster training, stop the bleed, etc.), participate in volunteering, as well as hearing from professionals on the EM/Trauma side of medicine. Our goal is to provide a wide range of experiences to help you succeed in school, learn more about EM/Trauma and have fun while learning in a hands on manner about the fast paced side of medicine.

Club Purpose:
The purpose of the LMU-DCOM Hematology/Oncology Club (abbreviated Heme/Onc Club) is to further the knowledge, interest, and desire to serve those affected by hematologic disorders and cancers. The club maintains its osteopathic affiliation and seeks to integrate case appropriate usage of OMM and to facilitate holistic, people centered care within the specialty of Hematology/Oncology. The club seeks to further educate students past the scope of course-based examples, through exposure to physicians, cancer patients, and medical researchers. The club aspires to serve the community of Appalachia, underserved groups, and the student body of DCOM.

Club Description:
International Medicine Society aims to create awareness of and interest in global health topics for LMU-DCOM students. Topics in global health and international medicine are discussed during club meetings. Additionally, IMS conducts international medical mission trips which are open to interested LMU-DCOM students. Prior medical mission trips have allowed students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience from in-country physicians and have helped students gain cultural competence and exposure to medical Spanish.

Club Description- The DCOM Neurology Club is an organization that is affiliated with the American Academy of Neurology here at LMU-DCOM. The organization is for Osteopathic Medical Students that are interested in Neurology and the Neurological Sciences. We frequently have guest speakers that mentor the club members on the path to matching into a residency in Neurology. The Service/volunteer projects that we worked with this past year were the East Tennessee Epilepsy Foundation and Steps Toward Zero (STZ) which both bring awareness and goal-making to the treatment of epilepsy. Additionally, our organization held a Dance for Parkinson event in which members danced with seniors diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at our local Harrogate Senior Center.

Club Description: Aside from Hippocrates famous quote, “do no harm”, many are not aware that the father of medicine also said, “let food be thy medicine and medicine be the food”. The human body is a complicated machine and what you put inside affects how efficiently this machine works. NAPs purpose is to educate students on nutrition as well as other factors that encourage healthy living; both physically and mentally. Treating diseases is the pinnacle of medical school but, what if we can learn to practice how to PREVENT disease.

Expose LMU-DCOM students to the specialties and subspecialties within ophthalmology, otolaryngology, head, and neck surgery.
Develop medical education opportunities for LMU-DCOM osteopathic medical students in ophthalmology, otolaryngology, head, and neck surgery.
Involve students and practitioners of these specialties in academic, social, economic, and political issues related to their specific area of practice.

Sigma Sigma Phi (SSP) is an Honorary Osteopathic Service Fraternity. The Student American Academy of Osteopathy (SAAO) strives to further develop the use of osteopathic principles and practices in osteopathic medical students. In this, this club wants its members to have a better understanding of osteopathy, attain maximum efficiency in structural diagnosis and manipulative treatment, and to foster a clear concept of the clinical application of osteopathic principles and practices in health and disease. The SAAO club will do so via weekly meetings featuring professors or others skilled in osteopathy providing additional hands-on practice and techniques, open discussions with residents and DOs who practice osteopathy, and volunteer opportunities where SAAO members will be able to practice his or her skills in OMT.
