The August Student D.O. of the Month is MEMORY KASHUMBA!! Memory is a member of the Class of 2013 and was nominated by 2 of her peers! Included below are excerpts from the nominations submitted in her favor. Please be respectful and leave the SDOM VIP parking space available for Memory’s use this month.
“Many of our classmates are friendly and extremely helpful, but Memory really stands out… She has composed a web site dedicated to our courses, which contains several multiple choice questions for each lecture. She willingly shares these with all who ask. This summer, while pursuing her own time consuming interests, she found time to assist several of us who opted to retake some courses.” – Anonymous
“[Memory] is always driven, motivated, and all smiles, but what amazes me is how humble she remains. Prior to entering DCOM in July 2009 to join the class of 2013, Memory worked as a registered nurse in the state of Florida. She often speaks of times where she worked two full-time nursing jobs to support herself. A medical student, a pianist, and fluent in multiple languages, Memory is an extremely talented woman. One of 28 students chosen to embark upon the 4-year DO/MBA dual degree journey, Student Dr. Kashumba worked diligently throughout a summer with no vacation time to relax or see family, while tutoring daily for Molecular Fundamentals of Medicine II, completing her MBA assignments, punctual to group meetings, and also having to study her MFMII tutoring material for her group, sometimes until 4:00am. Erupting in excitement upon receiving the news that all of her classmates passed showed how much she cares about their well-being and success. … Driven by the epidemic taking place in her native country of Zimbabwe, Memory aspires to be a towering force against infectious disease. Memory is very deserving of school-wide recognition of her character, drive, determination, and spirit.” – Elton Taylor, III
