October 2010 Student DO of the Month

Congratulations to MATT JOHNSON, OMS-2, October Student D.O. of the Month!!

Matt Johnson is a well-known member of the class of 2013 due to his drive to help classmates learn using all resources at hand, including the minds and experience of his colleagues and himself.  Matt continuously strives to provide alternate learning options to facilitate the learning styles of his peers.  He has organized various types of study groups and has relayed information back to the class after discussing the academic structure with administration.  Matt recently organized a night of studying before the ACLS Megacode, a practical exam that all second year students were required to pass.  He gathered fellow students with emergency protocol experience and his team taught students how to perform the hands-on skills that students had only read about.  His team committed their own time to teach, answer questions, and quiz numerous students – an altruistic gesture that many students are very appreciative.  In addition, Matt is one of the founding officers of the Operational Medicine Club at LMU-DCOM, titled STORM (Student Tactical Operational Rescue Medicine).  His previous medical and military experience is unique and has served him well, but it is his attitude to share knowledge that has surpassed expectations as an osteopathic medical student.  Congratulations to Matt Johnson, OMS-2 in his selection as October’s Student D.O. of the Month!!
